Our website is our primary method of
connecting people with ministries
Ministries forum lists ministries by
category with detailed information. Organizations
needing help can post their needs. Volunteers or those
with resources can respond.

Our Results
Jobs Partnership -
brings together local area businesses and churches to
train, equip, and employ the chronically unemployed.
Participants move from dependency to self- sufficiency
becoming productive, tax-paying citizens supporting
families who contribute to the wellness of the
community. Community Builders facilitated the
introduction of this program to Peoria. Christian
Family Center Church serves as the lead church.
Assets Peoria – A 13
week program for persons desiring to start or expand a
small business. Offered in collaboration with
Christian Family Center Church and the Mennonite
Church.
Adopt-A-Block -
Ministers to the spiritual needs of the families and
individuals on a block by first ministering to their
physical needs. A team is assigned to a block. Each
Saturday morning a team (assigned to that block)
visits the neighborhood. The team is responsible for
building relationships with all the residents.
Introduced to Peoria by Riverside Community Church,
Community Builders is working with Riverside to expand
the program to more churches and neighborhoods.
Charity Check –
provides churches and parachurches with a computerized
tool to track those seeking benevolence help. Designed
to eliminate abuse by “professional beggars”.
Community Builders introduced the idea to Peoria and
coordinates the program with the national
organization.
Full Service Community
Schools Initiative - partnered with school
administrators, District 150 Board members, educators,
parents, students, elected officials, neighborhood
organizations, and business to develop Full Service
Community Schools at a high school, a middle school, and a
primary school. In a community school, youth,
families and community residents work as equal
partners with schools and other community institutions
to develop programs and services specifically designed
for that particular school.
Community Values –
Community Builders introduced the idea and facilitated
a comprehensive process to develop a set of Community
Values which have been adopted by the Peoria County
Board, the District 150 School Board, the Peoria City
Council, and many community organizations.
Peoria Prayer Furnace
– Community Builders coordinated a trip to the
Brooklyn Tabernacle church in New York City. Forty
racial and gender diverse individuals were among two
thousand individuals who attended a weekly Prayer
Service held at the Brooklyn Tabernacle. Out of that
experience was the birth of the Peoria Prayer Furnace.
Meetings rotate from
church to church the second Friday of each month.
Through the commitment of Peoria’s Mayor and City
Council, the Prayer Furnace met at City Hall each
quarter of 2004 Prayer warriors are led by a
facilitator to pray for our country, the Greater
Peoria Area, National, State, City, Civic leaders as
well as families and individuals.
